Rural Equities Limited is governed by a Board of four directors including some of the most experienced people in New Zealand’s rural and business sectors.

David Cushing
Executive Chairman
David is an investment banker formerly with the Bank of New Zealand. He is a Director of a number of companies and has various investments in the rural sector.
Rodger Finlay
Deputy Chairman
Rodger was a successful international investment banker with 25 years’ experience and has significant agricultural knowledge having previously part-owned and farmed a dry stock operation in South Canterbury. Rodger is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Directors.
Nigel Atherfold
Director
Nigel is a partner in the corporate finance and economics advisory business TDB Advisory Limited. He has over 25 years’ experience in banking, treasury, and corporate finance, including five years with the New Zealand Dairy Board. He holds governance roles in large dairy farming operations in Canterbury and has specialist knowledge of the rural sector.
Sir Selwyn Cushing
Director
Sir Selwyn has been involved with a number of public companies either as a Director or as Chairman. He is a chartered accountant and a highly skilled businessman having particular empathy with the rural sector.
Management
Brian Burrough
Chief Executive Officer
Brian is highly experienced and has a wide variety of skills in the rural and farming sectors where he has worked for over 35 years. Brian worked in various management positions in rural servicing, rural finance and property before taking up the CEO role at REL. Brian supervises the operations and management of all the Group farm properties. He is from a farming background and is a Lincoln University graduate with an Agricultural Commerce degree.
James Wright
Chief Operating Officer
James is from a farming background with experience in the corporate management of farm servicing companies and funds management. James has been associated with Rural Equities under its former structure and the New Zealand Rural Property Trust since 1990.
Shona Devescovi
Chief Financial Officer
Shona is a Chartered Accountant. She is an experienced CFO who has held roles for Australasian companies in retail, manufacturing and property investment. Shona has a passion for the rural sector having grown up on a farm in Hawke’s Bay, and is a Massey University graduate with a Business Studies degree.
